DHAKA: Ten Bangladeshi citizens have been held in Britain for working over there without necessary legal papers, said a release from the British High Commission in Dhaka Tuesday about their government’s sweeping action.
It also said the arrested persons will be deported to Bangladesh “soon’.
The 10 were caught during the period of August 19 to September 15 by the border security force of the United Kingdom. The UK High Commission, however, did not disclose the names of the arrested persons.
According to the release, they were held from Derby, Hereford, Lincolnshire and other areas during the raids by British authority for unauthorized employment, fake marriage, admission in fake colleges and involvement in “organized criminal” acts.
The British mission also mentioned that one might be fined up to Tk 10.7 million under the British law for joining work in Britain without having legal papers.
