DHAKA: Home Minister Sahara Khatun again warned Wednesday that toll extortion and terrorism would not be tolerated in the country anyway, as a police became victim of terror strike in a latest instance.

“Don’t be afraid of toll collectors. Measures will be taken upon complaints,” the Home Minister gave the assurance while visiting injured police member Asaduzzaman at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the afternoon.

She enquired about Asaduzzaman’s condition and asked the physicians to ensure better treatment for him.

Asaduzzaman was shot and injured by terrorists Sunday while on duty in the diplomatic zone in city’s Gulshan area.

“Asaduzzaman proved that law enforcers are not negligent in curbing terrorism and protecting people. Law enforcers are ensuring people’s security with their relentless efforts,” she said.

The home minister also claimed that police members are setting praiseworthy examples in kicking out terrorism, militancy and mugging after the Awami League-led grand alliance government assumed power.

She promised to ensure highest security during Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, across the country.

Regarding Tuesday night’s clash in front of the DMCH, Sahara said, “None involved in the incident will be spared. We’ve already given directives to the police to take action against the culprits.”
