DHAKA: A member of the elite-force Rapid Action Battelion (RAB) reportedly comitted suicide by shooting him down with his own gun during duty in the city’s Badda area on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Milon Sarker, 30, nayek of RAB-1 stationed at Uttara.

RAB sources said SMG bullet pierced his chin at about 7.30 am.    
 
Milon was rushed to United Hospital at Gulshan in critical condition where doctors declared him dead.

Col Rashidul Alam, director of the RAB-1 unit, told banglanews, “It might be an ‘attempt to commit suicide’ as per preliminary investigation.”

His body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
