Envoys assure to help in polls

DHAKA: UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Neal Walker assured to help in every necessary way so that all political parties can participate in next general election.

He came up with the assurance after meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed along with 12 ambassadors from various countries including US ambassador Dan W Mozena Tuesday.

The other ambassadors were from England, Switzerland, South Korea, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Australia and Netherlands. EU and UNDP delegations also were present in the meeting.

After the meeting CEC Kazi Rakib said: “Ambassadors and diplomats from different countries want to see a free and fair national election. They also assured to help us with every possible way.”

CEC also said that if the parties want to discuss, EC is ready for talks.
