DHAKA: A total of 90 Bangladeshi workers left for Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday under a government-to-government agreement between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment arranged an orientation programme at city’s Hajj Camp ahead of the departure of 90 workers.

Terming the workers as representative of the country, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, “The people of the country could bring a better bilateral relation with Malaysia by their responsibility and skill.”

A flight of Malaysian Airlines took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:30 am carrying 90 Bangladeshi workers in the second phase, the airport sources said.

In May this year, 198 Bangladeshi workers were sent to Malaysia in the first phase under government arrangements and as per the recent government initiatives, the workers could manage to set off for Malaysia within a minimum cost of Tk 33,500.
