Dhaka: Dhaka University authorities decided to extend the service age of freedom fighter teachers and other employees by two more years.
According the decision taken at a syndicate meeting Saturday, the service age of freedom fighter teachers and officers has been extended to 67 from 65 while of other employees to 62 year from 60.
Syed Rezaur Rahman, one of the syndicate members and Registrar of the university, said Dhaka University, better known as the Oxford of the East, played a vital role during the liberation war in 1971.
“The decision has been taken in due deference to the freedom fighters,” he said.
Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said the government has initiated extending the job term for freedom fighter government employees.
“In accordance with the government decision, Dhaka University declared the facility for the freedom fighter officers and other employees.”
