DHAKA: US ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena hoped one day Bangladesh will be a dominating economy with the proper utilization of fertile land, enough water, favourable climate and natural gas and mineral coal it has.
He came up with the assertion while addressing in the inauguration ceremony of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University (DU) on Friday.
Mozena said, “There are many hindrances for the high growth rate but if Bangladesh can tackle these things they will become the tiger of Asia.”
He also said that many positive things can be imagined here in this country if they can fight against pervading corruption, lack of good governance, worn out condition of roads and highways, shortage of energy, rail road and ports and political instability.
Ambassador also said, “I think in one aspect Bangladesh is also like USA as the countrywide scattered shops and businesses are the life blood of these two economies.
He further said, “I am not saying that bigger organizations like Exxon Mobil, GE and Wal-Mart are unimportant. But the US economy is largely dependent on companies like Tri State Auction.
With IBA director Professor Iqbal Ahmed in the chair DU VC Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as chief guest on the occasion.
