Ferry services resume after 9-hr

DAULATDIA (RAJBARI): Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia river route resumed Saturday morning after a nine hour suspension due to poor navigability.

All of 12 ferries of the route started carrying vehicles from 9:30am.

Earlier on Friday night, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) halted the operation of all ferries after a ferry got stuck on a shoal in the Padma River.

Later, two tugboats (rescue vehicles) rescued the ferry.

Meanwhile, innumerable passengers suffered due to the ferry disruption and created three kilometer long traffic jam on both sides of the river.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Assistant manager Mohiuddin Rasel confirmed the matter to banglanews.
