DHAKA: Leaders of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Saturday said the proposed budget for 2010-2011 FY is positive and it would generate hope for a prosperous future of the people.

“Agriculture, power, energy and communications sectors have been given priority in the proposed budget,” said Abdul Malek Raton, general secretary of the party.

The appreciation came from a press conference on ‘Proposed Budget 2010-2011’ at party’s Gulistan central office in the capital.

The JSD general secretary presented 14-point proposals for implementing the budget and developing the fate of the people of the country.

He urged forming a national economic council comprising representatives and specialists of the government and private organizations for the country’s development on the basis of national solidarity.

“It is possible to earn revenue twice as much without imposing tax on general people,” he said about the party view.

Calling for strengthening port and transportation-based economy, he said the government has to establish a deep-sea port. “It is necessary to rebuild the country and reform its politics,” he added.

He urged the government to present a nice life to people and to make a developed country. ”The government should increase further the subsidy in agriculture sector,” he said.

Acting president of JSD MA Gofran, Joint Secretary Ataul Karim Faruque, Siraj Mian and secretary for women affairs Tania Ferdous, among others, also spoke at the press meet.
