DHAKA: Senior journalist Shafiqul Kabir and four members of his woe-be-gone family were taken on a three-day remand Tuesday for interrogation over the tragic deaths of his daughter-in-law and her two children in Jurain.
Detectives on Monday held Shafiqul Kabir and his wife Nur Banu, daughters Kabita and Shukhon and son-in-law Delwar Hossain Patwari on the High Court premises.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Kamal gave the remand order after the DB police produced them before the court with seven days’ remand prayer.
On June 10, Farzana Kabir Rita, wife of Kabir’s son, her 12-year-old son Ishrat Kabir Pabon and 10-year-old daughter Raisa Reshmi Payel were found dead in their house in the city’s Jurain area.
Rita`s mother, Mazeda Begum, filed the case with Kadamtoli Police Station against eight persons on June 11.
The accused are Rita`s husband Rashedul Kabir, his father Shafiqul Kabir, mother Noor Banu, brother-in-law Delwar Hossain, sisters Kabita and Shukhon, his second wife Smriti and driver Al Amin.
