Security to protect Khaleda, says MKA

DHAKA: Home Minister MK Alamgir on Sunday categorically said the security of the opposition Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s residence has been beefed up so that agitated persons can not attack her.

The home minister came up with the assertion while talking to journalists at his secretariat office in the city.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker said, “It is the duty of the government to ensure the safety of the opposition leader.”

He added: “This is why SSF and other security personnel remains all the time to ensure her safety.”

He also said: “We were informed that agitated people might attack her residence as she became the reason of 18 persons death by calling for an illegal hartal. This is why steps have been taken for her security.”
