DHAKA: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed on Tuesday said the offices of the ministers are yet to vacant as they did not submit resignation letters to the President as per the constitution.
Referring to the article 58 (1) (A) of the constitution, he said: “None of the ministers has given resignation letter for submission to the President.”
Shafique Ahmed said, “The resignation papers have been kept to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and it is only a formality.”
As per article 58 (1) (A) of the constitution, the office of a minister other than the prime minister shall become vacant if he resigns from office by placing his resignation in the hands of the premier for submission to the President.
The minister made the legal explanation of the minister’s resignation while replying to journalists at the Secretariat in the capital.
