DHAKA: At least 55 people were injured in separate clashes between BNP and ruling Awami League in three districts on Wednesday, the last day of 84-hour hartal called by BNP-led 18-party alliance.

In Pabna, some 15 people, including an officer-in-charge of police, were injured in a clash between BNP and Awami League men in Faridpur municipality in the district around 12:00 noon.
The injured--Faridpur Police Station OC Akram Hossain, Constable Sarwar Hossain, local journo Shahin and Sohel, Al-backed UP members Golam Mawla and Gowtam Das--were given treatment at upazila heath complex.
The officer-in-charge said that police fired 10 to 12 rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control.
Following the clash, additional police have been deployed in the area.
In Bogra, at least 15 people, including police and ex Member of Parliament in a clash between upazila BNP and Awami League in Dhunat bazaar of the district at around 12:00 noon.
Sources said that supporting hartal BNP and its associate organizations brought out a procession while Awami League activists attacked them which triggered a clash, leaving 15 injured.
Later, police fired blank shot to bring the situation under control.
Dhunat Thana Officer-in-Charge Mobarak Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Rangpur, at least 25 people, including five policemen were injured in a sporadic clash between Awami League and BNP men in Grand Hotel area of the district town at around 12:15pm.
On information, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rushed to the spot and opened fire 17 round bullets and 10 round rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.
Officer-in-Charge of Rangpur Sadar Thana Shahabuddin Khalifa confirmed the matter to banglanews.
