PM leaves for Sri Lanka in afternoon

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president is set to visit Sri Lanka on Thursday to join commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

A special flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying Sheikh Hasina will leave Shahjalal International Airport at 2:00pm for Sri Lanka.

Besides, a total of 48 high officials of the government will accompany with Prime Minister in the tour. Foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni has already arrived in Sri Lanka as Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group Chairman.

But, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will return home on Friday as Malaysian Prime Minister Nazib Razak is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on November 17.

On the sideline of CHOGM, Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to meet Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa, New Zealand Prime Minister John key and Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid.
