DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Friday placed Swechchasebak Dal general secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Sapu and organinising secretary Shafiul Bari Babu on a 5-day remand each in a case field for allegedly creating violence and obstructing police from discharging their duties.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order when police produced him before the court seeking 10-day remand in a case filed with Ramna Thana.

Defence lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukder also filed a petition seeking bail for the accused.

After hearing, the court granted 5-day remand in the case field for reportedly creating violence and obstructing police from discharging their duties near BNP’s Naya Paltan office on March 2.

On November 13 (Wednesday) evening, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the two leaders of Swechchasebak Dal from the city’s Bangla Motor area.
