Verdict proves Tarique innocent

DHAKA: Opposition BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on Sunday categorically said that the verdict of money laundering case proved that BNP vice-chairman Tarique Rahman had no link with corruption.

He came up with the reaction at Nayapaltan BNP’s central office on Sunday noon immediate after the pronouncement of the verdict of much-talked-about money laundering case.

Rizvi said that official reaction will be given after getting the copy of full verdict.

A Dhaka court acquitted BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman from the charges of laundering money to Singapore.

On the other hand, Giash Uddin Al Mamun, the business partner of Tarique, was sentenced to seven years in jail and a fine of TK 40 crore in the much-talked-about money laundering case.
