CHITTAGONG: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad on Sunday categorically said his party would form new alliance soon aiming to take part in upcoming general election.
The former president of the country came up with the assertion while talking to journalists after the meeting with Hefajat Ameer Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi in the afternoon.
The 50-minute-long meeting was held at Hathazari Madrasa under Hathazari upazila of the district.
Ershad said, “Jatiya Party will take part in next general elections breaking its alliance from the ruling party and form a new alliance.”
Sources said after the meeting with the Hefazat Ameer, HM Ershad will visit the village home of Jatiya Party (JP) presidium member and Member of Parliament Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud.
Earlier, he landed at Shah Amanat International Airport around 10:00am.
Meanwhile, Jatiya Party leaders Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Zia Uddin Bablu and Solayman Shet accompanied Ershad during the visit.
