Khaleda’s possible proposal to President

DHAKA: Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to meet President M Abdul Hamid on Tuesday evening to urge him to take steps for resolving the ongoing political stalemate ahead of the next general elections.

The leader of the opposition will lead an 18/20-member delegation at the Bangabhaban.

Claiming that it would not be possible to hold a free and fair election under the polls-time government that sworn in Monday, she will urge the president to stop the one-sided election.

Sources from BNP said the significant proposals that they would give to the President are:

1.    They will urge the President to directly interfere into forming a government which will include representatives from all the parties for a free and fair election.
2.    The government, whatever be it’s name, should be capable of holding an election in free, fair manner and must be acceptable to all. Otherwise, BNP would go for one-point movement from next week.
3.    That the government would be responsible for the anarchic situation across the country for its inflexibility.
4.    They will demand to reach in a solution through dialogues in the secretary level if the government takes initiatives. They will inform the President about recent exchanging of letters and phone calls between the general secretary of Awami League and secretary general of BNP.
5.    That BNP is ready to discard to the limit for the sake of holding free and fair elections.

Sources said that the top leaders of 18-party took the decisions in a meeting at Khaleda’s gulshan office on Monday night.

On Monday afternoon, a new cabinet of the polls-time all-party interim government was formed to oversee the 10th general elections.
