MP’s son shot in Swandip AL-BNP clash

CHITTAGONG: Son of a lawmaker was shot and the house of them was vandalized during a daylong violence between Awami League and BNP activists at Swandip upazila of the district on Sunday.

The victim is Iqbal Pasha Javed, son of local Chittagong-13 Member of Parliament for BNP Mostafa Kamal Pasha.

Sources said supporters of Awami League and BNP locked into daylong clash at Taltali Bazar over a scything assault a Jubo League activist Saturday night.

Officer-in-Charge of Sanwdip Thana Giasuddin said, “Several shots had been fired from both sides and Awami League supporters vandalized the house of MP.”

He added: “Iqbal Hossain Pasha was shot during the attack and he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.”

Rahamatpur UP Chairman and local BNP leader Mamun told banglanews that Awami League had hired local  sea robber groups to instigate the attack.
