Jamaat,JCD men killed in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ: Two people, including an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami and a root level leader of Chhatra Dal, were killed in a triangular clash among Awami League, BNP and law enforcers in Belkuchi Upazila of the district town on Wednesday, the second day of 48-hour blockade.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil, 55, an activist of Jamaat of the area and Masum Billah, 22, son of Shamsul Alam Sarker, also organizing secretary of Bera Union Chhatra Dal.

Witnesses and police said 18-party leaders and activists brought out procession in Kolyanpur area at around 12:30pm and police along with Awami League men obstructed them that triggered a fierce clash, leaving 20 persons, five by bullets, injured.

On information, Border Guard Battalion and Rapid Action Battalion personnel took position on the spot.

Belkuchi United General Hospital doctor MAG Osmani told banglanews, “Five were rushed to the hospital with bullet injuries. Of them, Jalil succumbed to his injuries.”

Local sources said Masun died on way to shift another hospital from Belkuchi United General Hospital.  

Sirajganj additional police super Mukter Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
