DHAKA: The 71-hr nonstop blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway for third consecutive day across the country amid stray incidents of removal of rail track by picketers.
The blockade started at 6:00am Tuesday and will continue till 5:00am Friday.
In Bogra, pickets cut 72-feet rail tracks in Subgram area of the district at 1:50am Thursday that halted rail link of the region with other parts of the county.
Bogra railway police outpost In-Charge Bimal Kumar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Dhaka, city Shibir (East) unit brought out a pro-blockade procession in Azimpur area at around 7:30am and vandalized five vehicles and blasted seven to eight cocktails.
Besides, the movement of launch from Sadarghat terminal declined to half from early morning. Three launches out of five left the terminal till 8:30am.
In Kushtia, 18-party men blocked Kushtia-Rajbari highway by setting fire on roads early Thursday and vandalized an ambulance.
In Naogaon, rail communication of the region with Dhaka and Rajshahi snapped as pickets removed rail line in Thawaipara area in Atrai Upalia early Thursday.
The alliance is observing the roads, waterways and railway blockade protesting announcement of poll schedule and demanding its cancelation and restoration of poll-time caretaker government.
