Armored car torched in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: At least 10 people, including two police men, were injured in clash with 18-party leaders-activists on Shalbagan area of the divisional city on Thursday, the third day of 71-hour blockade.

The blockade supporters torched an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) from a procession at around 7:30am and blocked Rajshahi Naogaon highway by putting eclectic pools and setting fire.

On information, police rushed to the spot and later, pickets hurled some cocktails and petrol bombs at APC car of police.

Police dispersed them by firing rubber bullets and protesters hurled brick-chips aiming police, leaving two police men injured.

Rajshahi Metropolitan police commissioner Barrister Mahbubr Rahman said additional police were deployed at key points of the city to avert untoward situation.
