DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the election commission to cancel the schedule for next general elections declared on November 25.
He came up with the assertion while talking to journalists before joining the `Ghaibana Namaz-e-Janaza` (funeral prayers in absentia) at Nayapaltan in the city on Friday afternoon.
The BNP leaders also urged the government for holding polls under non-party neutral government after cancelation of the existing poll-schedule.
Fakhrul claimed that more than 20 leaders-activists were killed during the 18-party’s blockade programme.
Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Dr AZM Jahid Hossain, BNP International Affairs Secretary Nazid Uddin Alam, Assistant Information Secretary Habibur Rahman Habib, Assistant Office Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin and Shamimur Rahman Shamim, Labour Party chairman Dr Mostafizur Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka city assistant secretary Dr Shafiqul Islam were present in the Janaza.
