RAJSHAHI: Blockade supporters set fire to four paddy-laden trucks and a medicine carrying microbus in Dewanpara area of the divisional city early Saturday, hours before the 72-hour blockade called by 18-party alliance.
Witnesses said four paddy-laden trucks and a medicine carrying microbus burnt to ashes form the arson incident. None was reportedly injured in the incident.
Police said blockaders hurled petrol bombs on the Kushtia-bound trucks and microbus which ignited fire in the vehicles.
The vehicles have all been burnt to ashes, before firefighters brought the fire under control, said Motihar thana officer-in-charge Abdul Majid Khan.
Additional law enforcers were deployed in key points of the metropolitan.
No long-route vehicle left the city from morning due to blockade.
