DHAKA: The second day of the nationwide 72-hour road-rail-waterway blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway under a minimum supervision of the law enforcers.
The whole city except BNP’s Naya Paltan central office area has not had a noticeable patrolling by the law enforcers lately.
However, a very few passenger buses departed from Saidabad and Gabtoli bus terminals from 12:00 am to 6:00 am. Other vehicles were hardly seen to ply on the road.
Moreover rail communications on Dhaka-Rajshahi came to a halt from 2:15am Sunday as picketers removed some fishplates of rail tracks in Nondongachhi area near to Sarda station.
Besides, activists of Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, blasted 13 cocktails and locked into clashes with law enforcers in city’s Khilgaon and Khilkhet areas between 7:50 am and 8:00am Sunday.
