Ershad boycotts national polls

DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad on Tuesday declared that his party would not join the next parliamentary elections as other parties are not taking part.

The JP chief came up with the announcement at a press conference at Banani office in the city in the noon.

He said, “I along with my party boycott this national poll as all the political parties are not taking part in the polls.”

The JP leaders, who were submitted nomination papers, were requested to withdraw their nomination papers, he added.

Ershad also refused the allegations of taking Tk 1000 crore from the government.

He said he neither hankers after money nor fears to jail or death that’s why I withdrew my party from the participation of next polls.
