2nd phase blockade enters day-6

DHAKA: The second phase countrywide road-rail-waterway blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway for sixth consecutive day amid stray incidents of picketing.

Meanwhile, due to the blockade, the rail and road communications around the country are being seriously disrupted.

The rail communications on Lalmonirhat-Santahar route remained halted till early Thursday as three compartment of a train derailed in Burungi area under Sagata upazila of the district.

In Chittagong, driver of a CNG-run auto rickshaw was burnt after blockaders torched his vehicle in port city’s Chandgaon area at around 6:30am.

The victim is Khorshed Alam, 50, resident of Firoj Shah Colony of the port city.
 
Besides, police recovered 23 petrol bombs from rail gate area in front Malibagh super market in the capital around 8:20am.

5 th day’s blockade violence

Five people were killed and 40 others injured after derailment of Padmarag express train as miscreants removed fishplates of rail line near to Bonarpara rail station in the district around 1:30am Wednesday.

 Besides, a Dhaka College student, who sustained burn injuries when miscreants set fire to a bus near Shishu Park in the capital on November 28, dies around 4:30am.
4th day’s blockade violence

At least nine people were killed and scores injured in separate violence across the country on Tuesday, the fourth day of blockade enforced by BNP-led 18-party alliance.

Of the nine, six were activists of BNP-Jamaat alliance of Satkhira, Chandpur, Noakhali and Chittagong, one Jubo League activist of Satkhira and rests two of Patuakhali and Chittagong are general people.


3rd day’s blockade violence

Three BNP men, including two Jubo Dal leaders, were killed in separate violence across the country during blockade enforced by 18-party alliance on Monday.


2nd day’s blockade violence

Miscreants killed a Jubo Dal leader in Daudkandi Upazila of Comilla district on Sunday night.

1st day’s blockade violence

Five people including an activist of Chhatra Shibir, an activist of Jubo Dal and three pedestrians were killed in separate violence in Dhaka, Jhenidah, Pabna, Chittagong and Bogra on Saturday, the first day of 72-hour blockade.

The 131-hour blockade, started from 6:00am Monday to press home their demand for non-party caretaker government during the polls-time, cancellation of the polls-schedule and release of the top BNP leaders, will continue till 5:00pm Thursday.
