DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed Thursday said the commission is not worried about the Jatiya party as the decision depends on a political party whether it would join the national polls.
CEC came up with the observation while talking to journalists at the commission office in the afternoon.
About BNP’s ultimatum against polls schedule, Kazi Rakib said, “We want participation of all parties in the polls through political consensus within two major parties. But we have not seen major improvement in this regard yet.”
When asked about Jatiya party’s latest decision, CEC said, “It is absolutely their party matter.”
The 10th parliament elections are scheduled to be held on January 5 next year.
BNP-led 18-party alliance rejected the poll schedule and announced to continue movement till their demand of restoration of caretaker government system is met.
