Jewel, Sharif on 3-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court placed Chhatra Dal president Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel and senior vice president of Dhaka (North) Chhatra Dal Sharif Uddin Jewel on a 3-day remand for police interrogation.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan passed the remand order after a hearing when police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand plea in a case with Paltan Thana Friday.

Meanwhile, Motijheel Thana Police also sought for 20-day remand of Jewel and Sharif in two cases with the thana but the hearing of the plea would be held on another day.

On April 22, a few cocktails were hurled from a Chhatra Dal procession, aiming the police as they tried to prevent them from vandalizing two vehicles in front of City Hurt Hospital.

Cases were filed in this connection against Jewel and Sharif including some others.
