DHAKA: Claming the talks with United Nations to be fruitful, Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Saturday categorically said there would be more talks in phases.
The AL leader made the assertion to journalists after hour-long meeting with Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs at a city hotel in the afternoon.
Ashraful Islam said: “It was a primary discussion with the delegation as first round of discussion and we will discuss more and then the issues will be comprehensible.”
He added: “The UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon visited Bangladesh during previous troublesome 1/11 which postponed difficulties in the previous election and we are grateful to UN initiatives as they are keeping eyes on our politics.”
Syed Ashraful Islam hoped that cooperation from all schools in holding the national election with the participation of all parties now in the election process.
Land Minister and Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu, Industries Minister Tofael Ahmed, Foreign Affairs Adviser to PM Gowher Rizvi, former Commerce Minister Faruk Khan and AL leader Shahed Reza were also present at the meeting with Taranco.
