DHAKA: The activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir locked into a clash with the law enforcers in city’s Sipahibag, Madartek and Bakshibazar areas on Tuesday.
During the time, Jamaat-Shibir activists also blasted couple of cocktails.
Local and police sources said the Jamaat-Shibir activists brought out a procession in Madatek area under the leadership of assistant secretary general of metropolitan Jamaat Rezaul Haque Riaz, also secretary of metropolitan (East) Shibir at around 7:45am.
In a stage of the procession, they blasted 5-6 cocktails and vandalized vehicles.
On information, law enforcers rushed to the spot and fired rubber bullets and teargas shells to disperse the procession that triggered a clash.
The law enforcers, however, nabbed a Shibir activist from the procession.
Meanwhile, Shibir activists of Bakshibazar area brought out a procession.
On information, police rushed the spot and opened fire of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.
Officer-in-Charge of Chakbazar Thana Azizul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Besides, the Chhatra League and Juba League activists of Bakshibazar area caught an alleged Shibir activist and handed over to the police.
