DHAKA: Convicted Jamaat leader Quader Mollah asked his counsel to file review petition with the Supreme Court challenging the death sentence to him for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh.
He is also considering about seeking mercy to the President.
Barrister Abdur Razzak, lawyer of Quader Mollah, came up with the disclosure while talking to the journalists on Tuesday morning.
Barrister Razzak said, “We talked about two things. One is review petition and the other is seeking mercy to the President. He gave us necessary instructions about review petition… and consideration about seeking mercy to the President.”
According to the jail code, he would get 15 days in his hand, he asked us to meet again on December 22. On that day he would tell us his decisions about seeking mercy to the President, he added.
Razzak also said that at the time of meeting, Quader Mollah was mentally sound.
On the other hand, senior jail super Forman Ali said that they have completed all the necessary preparations in this connections including preparing the ropes to be hanged with and the executioners.
“We have lined up five hangmen including main executioner M Shahjahan Bhuiyan,” he added.
Forman Ali also said that they were waiting for the order of the government.
He added that the jail code won’t be applied to the case of Quader Mollah.
