NOAKHALI: At least three Jamaat men were killed in a clash with law enforcers in Basurhat under Companiganj of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately as the some jargons arose on the matter.
As per the district Sadar branch Shibir President Neyamot Ullah’s claim, six Jamaat-Shibir activists killed amid the deadly clash, though police said three.
Witnesses said the clash triggered while Jamaat–Shibir activists attacked law enforcers from a protest procession in protest against the hang of war criminal Jamaat Leader Quader Mollah.
Later, police opened fire several rounds of rubber bullets and teargas shells to thwart Jamaat-Shibir assault attempts.
Officer-in-Charge of Companiganj Thana Sajedur Rahman Sajid confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said, “Three bodies were recovered from the troublesome area and another injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.”
