NOAKHALI: Some 10,000 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir of the district were sued for their alleged involvement in obstructing police from discharging their duties.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Companiganj Thana Shishir Kumar Biswas filed two lawsuits with Companiganj Thana on Monday morning.
Some four and a half thousand Jamaat-Shibir activists were made accused in a case including naming 47 Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists. In another case, five and a half thousand Jamaat-Shibir men were accused for obstructing police from discharging their duties.
Police have arrested four people in this connection, so far.
On Saturday afternoon, three people were killed in a clash between police and Jamaat-Shibir activists in Basurhat Bazar area under Companiganj Upazila of the district.
