DHAKA: A legal notice has been issued to the government on Tuesday against “illegal arrest” of Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad.
Bakhtiar Uddin Khan Iqbal, JP organizing secretary and personal advocate of Ershad issued the legal notice by senior advocate Barrister Rafique-ul Haque on Tuesday.
The notice was sent to home ministry through a postal order Bakhtiar Uddin told banglanews.
He said, “If they denied releasing party president immediately, we will move for a writ in the high court.”
On Thursday night, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) picked up HM Ershad from his Baridhara residence and took him to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka Cantonment, saying that was taken to the CMH as he was suddenly fell sick.
However, the rumor of Ershad’s arrest was in the air since his announcement to boycott the 10th parliamentary election slated for January 5.
