Blockaders go berserk in city

DHAKA: Blockaders and law enforcers locked into a clash at the first day of blockade enforced by BNP-led 18-party alliance called from 6:00am Tuesday in city’s Paltan area.

Witnesses said blockaders brought out a procession and vandalized vehicles in the area at 7:00pm. They also hurled five cocktails and tried to torch a bus.

However, police rushed in and opened fire to disperse them from the possession.

The angry pickets vandalized roadside shops and organizations in Fakirerpool, GPO intersection, Dainik Bangla intersection.

Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Shahbagh Thana MA Jalil said police dispersed the blockaders but could not detain anyone in this connection.
