RANGPUR: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by a faction of Jatiya Party (JP), is underway in eight districts of the division on Wednesday.
The party is observing the lockdown demanding the release of its chairman HM Ershad.
Mostafa group took position in south side of divisional city from 6:00am while Ranga group took position in north side of the city.
The vehicle movements were seen normal during the ongoing hartal in the district.
Recently dissolved JP district committee president Moshiur Rahman Ranga declared the hartal demanding punishment of bombers and release of party chairman HM Ershad.
On the other hand, newly formed Ershad Mukti convener committee member secretary Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa called the hartal demanding the withdrawal of cases against members of his group.
Earlier on Monday, the two groups locked into clash and hand bombs were blasted in front of district party office.
Following the bomb blast incident Ranga’s committee leader Shamsul Alam filed a case against former Sadar Upazila Chairman Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa.
Besides, hartal is progressing peacefully in Dinajpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat districts of the division.
