Blockade underway for day-2

DHAKA: The 72-hr rail-roads-waterways blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway for second straight day in the country on Wednesday amid clash with police, arson.

In Narayanganj, BNP leaders and activists locked into clash with law enforcers at around 7:00am, in Pachrukhi area under Araihazar upazila.

Police, however, detained three picketers with petrol from the spot.

Beside, law enforcers held Narayanganj city BNP’s Information and Research affairs secretary Ohidul Islam Khan Chhakku on Tuesday night.

In Chittagong, Jamaat-Shibir activists set fire in a covered van at Sitakunda at around 3:00am.

Besides, blockaders torched seven covered vans in Fakirhat area under Sitakunda Upzaila at around 11:45pm Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the road communication of Dhaka-Sylhet and local roads remained stopped but train service remained normal.

In the name of blockade 18-party’s coalition partner Jamaat-e-Islami was continuing subversive activities across the country.

Following the Dhaka Metropolitan Police subversive activities joint forces was operating special drive. Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that the drive would continue in capital.

On Monday evening, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan declared the blockade from BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s party office.
