CHITTAGONG: The first day of 83-hour long blockade, called by 18-party alliance, is underway in the port city on Saturday.
Sources said that no picketers, procession or rally were seen. Besides, no untoward situation was reported.
Meanwhile, Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were in alert position at the key points of port city to avert any untoward situation.
Additional two thousands cops were deployed in the district and six platoon BGB personnel were kept standby, sources said.
City Deputy Police Commissioner (Sadar) Masud-Ul-Hassan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
