MANIKGANJ: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday criticized opposition BNP as they called hartal, blockade across the country without people’s involvement.
“The common people of the country are not involvement in the movement whatever they enforced in the name of shutdowns or blockades,” he said.
The senior leader of the ruling Awami League came up with the observation after visiting the construction work of Nayakandi Bridge at Manikganj Sadar upazila in the noon.
He also visited three more bridges under construction on Manikganj-Singair road.
In response to a question of journalists, he said the government won’t obstruct their (BNP) movement on December 29 if it would be non-violent.
But law enforcing agency will take necessary actions if there is any apprehension of violence, he added.
He also criticized uprooting of fishplates of the rail-track, cutting trees and burning people in the name of movements.
District Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin, municipality mayor Ramjan Ali and high-ups of road and transport department were present on the occasion.
