220 held across the country

DHAKA: Joint forces held 220 people in their ongoing drives across the country during the time from Wednesday midnight to Thursday noon.

In capital, they held 20 people from different spots of the city in a nightlong drive.

In Gazipur, law enforcers, in 24-hour drives, nabbed 130 people from different upazilas of district apprehending the deterioration of law and order situation.

In Jessore, 55 people including 14 activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami were detained from different upazilas of the district between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Assistant Police Super (sadar) of Jessore Reshma Sharmin told banglanews that they were nabbed in different cases for their alleged involvement in crime and subversive acts.

In Joypurhat, 15 activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami were held from various Upazilas in the district.

In Rajshahi, apprehending subversive act police held 25 Jamaat-Shibir men from the divisional city.

Confirming the matter Boalia Thana Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman told banglanews, “The number of detainees could be increased.”
