Shammi, Bakul sent to jail

DHAKA: Opposition BNP lawmaker Shammi Akhter and senior leader Sarder Sakhawat Hossain Bakul were sent to jail in a case of arson and vandalism.

Metropolitan magistrate Maruf Hossain passed the order after hearing on the case on Thursday afternoon.

The court also directed investigation officer of the case to interrogate them at jail gate if necessary.

Earlier in the day, police produced them before the court seeking seven and five days remand plea for Shammi and Bakul.

Shammi Akhter and Sarder Sakhawat Hossain Bakul were picked up from city’s Gulshan area on Tuesday night.

Law enforcers held them in front of BNP Chairperson Gulshan office around 8:35pm, said a spot account of the incident.
