Cop-Hizb-ut-Tahrir clash in city

DHAKA: A clash took place between the banned organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir and law enforcers in front of the National Press Club of the capital on Friday noon.

Witnesses said that some 50-60 activists of Hizb-ut-Tahrir tried to bring out a procession at around 1:45pm and police protested them.

After facing obstruction, Hizb-ut-Tahrir men attacked police forces and in retaliation, police charged baton and fired several rounds of blank shots to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, police held 18 suspects from the spot.

Shahbagh Thana Sub-Inspector Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
