DHAKA: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday claimed that the demand of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for disbanding RAB is ill-motivated and a political game.

Inu came up with the assertion in a press briefing at his secretariat office in the city.

He also sought Khaleda’s suggestion saying, “What would be the alternative choice to maintain the law-and-order situation of the country if the elite force will be abolished?”

The minister also mentioned that some undisciplined Army personnel killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with family members and Ziaur Rahman, founder of BNP, brutally. 

Putting question, he said, “For that would Khaleda Zia propose to disband Army or police force?”

The guilty must be penalized but the Army, Police and other law enforcement agencies cannot be abolished, he added.
