SC clears way for Moudud’s trial

DHAKA: The Supreme Court has cleared the way for continuing a illegal-asset earning case against BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

On Wednesday, the 4-member appellate division bench headed by Chief Justice M Mozzammel Hossian rejected the petition for cancelation of the case filed by Moudud.

On July 3, 2007 ACC issued a notice to Moudud to submit his wealth statement to it. In response to the notice, the BNP leader submitted wealth statement worth about TK 17.70-crore that year.

Among the amount, ACC filed case against him for earning wealth worth TK 9.4 crore illegally.

Later, Barrister Moudud filed a petition to the High Court seeking cancelation of the case. After rejecting by the High Court, Moudud filed appeal to appellate division.
