28 BNP men sent to jail in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ: A speedy trial court here on Monday awarded three years imprisonment to 28 BNP leaders and activists.

Senior judicial magistrate M Alaul Akbar passed the order.

The court also fined Tk 5,000 to each of all 28 leaders and activists, including joint general secretary of district BNP Khaled Saifullah Sohel, in default, three months jail.

On January 29, 2012, BNP men attacked the then additional superintendent of Netrokona district M Delwar Hossain and vandalized his car following a clash between law enforcers and BNP men.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Thana ATM Mahmudul Haque filed a case under speedy trial act, mentioning names of 12 persons and many unnamed, on charges of attacking police, vandalizing vehicles and obstructing police from discharging government duties.

On February 8, investigation officer (IO) SI Imran Hasan submitted charge sheets against 28 BNP men.
