FENI: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by local Awami League, was observed amid stray incidents in the Fulgazi upazila of the district on Monday.

The upazila unit of incumbent Awami League observed the general strike demanding fair trial of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram’s murder.

Around 9:00am, local Chhatra League and supporters of Ekram staged protest by barricading road in different spots including old Munshir hat, new Munshir hat, Anandapur, Bandua, Fulgazi Bazar putting tree logs and setting fire on tyres.

Road link of Fulgazi and Parshuram upazila with other parts of the district remained halted.

Besides, Upazila primary and secondary teachers’ association will arrange mourn rally on Tuesday and teacher-student will form human chain and mourn rally on Wednesday to press home the same demand.

In a cinematic style, miscreants shot Ekramul, the upazila Awami League president, and burnt to death at his own car in front of Bilashi Cinema in Academy area of the district town on May 20.
