Bogra BCL attack injures 8 cops

BOGRA: At least eight police officials, including two Inspectors, were injured while trying to stop a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists in Satmatha area of the district on Wednesday night.

The injured police are- Bogra Sadar Thana Inspector (Administration and Operation) Fayjur Rahman, Inspector (Investigation) Nur-e-Alam, Assistant Sub-inspector Shahjahan Ali, Aminul Islam, Constable Delwar, Swapon Ali and Ashikur Rahman.

Sources said that following an internal dispute between two groups of Chhatra League activists took position against each other in the area around 8:15pm. 

On information, police went to the area to disperse them but a group of Chhatra League hurled three cocktails, leaving the eight police men injured.

Later, police fired 17-round bullets and charged baton to bring the situation under control.

Confirming the matter District Police Media Cell Officer-in-Charge and Bogra Assistant Police Super (ASP) Gaziur Rahman told banglanews, “The injured were sent to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.”

A case will be filed in this connection, he added.
