DHAKA: Former Rab official SM Rana on Thursday made a confessional statement in the killing of Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others. 

Rana made his confessional statement under section 164 of criminal procedure in the court of senior judicial magistrate KM Mohiuddin in the noon.   

A senior police officer of district unit confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on Wednesday RAB-12 former commander Major Arif Hossain, also one of the main accused in Nrayanganj seven-killing case, gave confessional statement before a district court under section 164.

Senior judicial magistrate KM Mohiuddin recorded the statement at 12:30pm amid tight security.

On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates, driver, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted from Narayanganj city.

Three days after their abduction, the bodies of six people, including Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. 

Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya on May 1.
