Hanif slams foreign envoys

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Monday said the political dialogue is not a must at this moment.

“There is no such a problem in the county to have a political dialogue over the election,” he said.

He came up with the observation while addressing the 65th founding anniversary of Awami League at the party chief’s political office at Dhanmondi in the noon.

The spokesperson for the party also urged the foreign diplomats not to interfere in other country’s political issues so that people can lead a happy life.

Indicating BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Hanif said, “The people of the country are not thinking about a midterm election. So, there is no profit to draw attention to the diplomats.”

Hanif said Awami League believes in mutual discussion. He also mentioned the invitation to BNP chief about dialogue before the 10th national polls, which she denied.

According to the AL leader, Khaleda is now going to the foreign friends with the issue.

On Sunday, the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia met European Union (EU) delegate and discussed on the process of a free, fair and impartial midterm election.
